ahladvocaten consists of a team of six specialized lawyers located at the Maliesingel 2 in Utrecht. Our team consists of the following five lawyers: Jan Willem Aartsen, Anjo Hekman, Pascal Lodder, Flip Jansen and Fred Menkveld. We are specialised in the following jurisdictions: Labor Law, Criminal Law, Immigration Law, Persons and Family Law and Social Security Law. ahladvocaten also assists people who are eligible for legal aid (“Pro Deo”).

Our privacy statement is intended to inform you about the use of your personal data, why and when we may use your personal data, how long we keep your personal data and whether, and if so, with whom we share your data. We process your personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (the Relevant Legislation).

If you are a contact of one of our clients, it may be that we obtain your personal data via our clients.

Applicants

We may obtain your personal data through an employment agency, another law firm or a training institute where you follow a course.

Students

We obtain your personal information from, for example, the company where you work or via the institute where you take a course at our office.

Other

For example, we obtain your personal data from the company you work for or, for example, via the contact form on our website.

 

We process your personal data with the following goals

Personal data may only be processed for the purposes we set for it. We will never process your personal data for any other purpose. We process your personal data in order to provide you with the optimal legal services. Which personal data do we process from you

We do not just process all personal data. We only process personal data that is necessary for the above purposes.

Clients and contacts of clients

We will in any case process all personal data necessary to contact you such as: full name, address, place of residence, telephone number and e-mail address. It is also possible that we process contact details of family members and / or relationships when necessary, e.g. in case a client is detained. Furthermore, we process all personal data necessary for providing the optimal legal services and personal data that we are legally obliged to process such as financial personal data, citizen service number and ID, passport or driver’s license.

Part of personal data that is relevant to the legal services may be special personal data. These are, for example, personal data relating to race or ethnicity, political preference, genetic data, medical data, biometric data and sexual preference or behaviour. It may also concern criminal law personal information such as suspicions, interrogations or statements.

The provision of this personal information is both a legal obligation and a necessary condition to conclude an agreement with you. The provision of this personal information is mandatory for you. The moment you do not provide us with personal data, this means that we cannot provide you with legal services.

Applicants

In addition to your contact details, we process all personal data that you provide us with in your application. Think of training, assessments and a letter of motivation.

The provision of your personal data is not mandatory. If you do not provide your personal data, we cannot go through any application procedure with you.

Students

We will at least process all personal data necessary to contact you and verify your presence such as: full name, address, place of residence, telephone number and e-mail address. In addition to these personal data, we also process where you work or which training you follow and your presence.

The provision of this personal data is a necessary condition to be able to conclude an agreement with you. The provision of this information is not mandatory for you. The moment you do not provide us with personal data, this means that you cannot follow a course with us.

Other

We will at least process all personal data necessary to contact you such as: name, telephone number and e-mail address. In addition, we can process with whom you work and which function you have. If you send us, or we send you an invoice, we also process all the data that is mentioned there.

The provision of this personal information is, from a business point of view, a necessary condition to be able to conclude an agreement with you. The provision of this personal data is not mandatory for you. The moment you do not provide your personal information to us, this means that we cannot enter into an agreement with you. In a non-business context, providing your personal data is of course not mandatory. Without your personal data, however, we cannot contact you or maintain contact.

 

Why may we process your personal data

How long do we keep your personal data

We never store your personal data longer than necessary. We have therefore determined the following retention periods which are partly determined by legal obligations.

We store financial personal data for seven (7) years. We store personal data on personal data for five (5) years. All other personal data and personal data that are or were necessary in your procedure are also kept for five (5) years. We keep documents that are relevant to our professional liability for twenty (20) years. Personal data that are necessary for checking conflicting interests are retained for the duration of the existence of the partnership and its successor. Other personal data will be erased as soon as the need for storage is lost.

Other

We never store your personal data longer than necessary. We keep your personal data for the duration of business contact or that the relationship we have with you is relevant for our office. Financial data is stored for seven (7) years.

 

Who will receive your personal data

Clients

These are parties involved in legal proceedings, emergency services and / or independent administrative bodies. These include the Public Prosecution Service, the courts, courts of appeal, the Supreme Court, the UWV, the child protection, the probation service and the IND. Other lawyers in our office may also receive your personal data. It is also possible that an expert receives your personal data when necessary. In addition, our administration offices and accountants receive your personal data insofar as this is necessary for the processing of financial data, for example for making invoices to be sent to you or third parties. We will notify you accordingly when we share your personal data with a party not mentioned above.

Financial data is shared with our accountant (s). Other personal data are not shared. If there is a legal obligation to do so, it may be that we share your personal data with a supervisor or other authority.
